Thanks for your donation

Ghana Nurses Association (UK) is embarked on raising diabetes awareness amongst the population in Ghana and amongst the diaspora in the UK. The incidence of diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes, is on the increase. The complications such as renal failure, blindness, amputation of limbs as well as erectile dysfunction and heart failure are all debilitating and life threatening. The overwhelming data suggests that better outcomes where sufferers and those at risk are better informed about the causes of diabetes  and contributory factors such as obesity, lack of exercise or over indulgence of alcohol and sweet fizzy drinks.

The GNA (UK) diabetes awareness project is designed to help people become aware on how best to manage or prevent getting diabetes.

95% of money raised will be used in funding voluntary workers in the field, both in Ghana and the UK, assessing individuals’ blood glucose levels, BMI measurement as well as blood pressure levels. The outcomes of the above assessments will form the basis of on-going work with such individuals in regards to their empowerment on matters of their nutritional and dietary practices as exercise regimes to help them better manage or prevent diabetes.
